Pianist & Composer
Matej Meštrović is a Croatian pianist and composer whose work bridges classical tradition and contemporary crossover. His music spans orchestral and chamber concert works, film and television scores, and large-scale ceremonial productions.
He is the composer of Danube Rhapsody for piano and orchestra, premiered at Carnegie Hall — making him the first Croatian composer to present his own orchestral work at the venue. Meštrović has written music for three Croatian national pavilions at World Expos (Lisbon, Hannover, Shanghai) and for major national and international events, including the opening of the Pelješac Bridge, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and the Roman Theatre in Pula.
His catalogue includes music for over 400 documentaries, theatre productions, and media projects, and his work has been recognized with multiple international awards.

Matej Meštrović
Pianist & Composer
Matej Meštrović is a Croatian pianist and composer whose work spans classical concert music, large-scale orchestral productions, film and television scores, and crossover projects. Rooted in classical tradition yet driven by contemporary energy, his music is marked by a strong rhythmic identity, cinematic scope, and a pronounced physicality of sound.
His catalogue includes music for over 400 documentaries, theatre productions, and media projects, as well as compositions for major international and national events. Meštrović has composed music for three Croatian national pavilions at World Expos (Lisbon, Hannover, Shanghai), for which he received the City of Zagreb Award, and has collaborated extensively with orchestras, ensembles, and soloists across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
In 2018, his composition Danube Rhapsody for piano and orchestra premiered at Carnegie Hall, making him the first Croatian composer to present a world premiere of his own orchestral work at the venue. His orchestral recordings have been released internationally by PARMA Recordings / NAXOS.
A significant focus of his recent work is large-scale concert and stage projects. In 2025, his oratorio Anno Domini 924 – King Tomislav was premiered at Zagreb Classic, performed by over 250 musicians, including choirs and the orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre, as well as the Jonathan Griffith Singers (USA), under the direction of Jonathan Griffith.
His work has received multiple Global Music Awards, including the Gold Medal – Best of the Best, as well as Gold Medals for Composition and Concept, and additional Silver Medals for composition and recording excellence.
Alongside his concert career, Meštrović remains active in interdisciplinary and ceremonial projects, humanitarian initiatives, and international collaborations. His work continues to bridge symphonic tradition and modern performance, positioning him as one of the leading Croatian composers and performers on the international stage.
